Jordan Poole, Warriors reach an agreement on a four-year extension worth $140 million

The Golden State Warriors selected Jordan Poole with the 28th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. In some instances, players drafted so late in the first round don’t always pan out.

However, that has not been the case with Jordan Poole as he and the Warriors reached an agreement on a four-year deal worth $140 million.

During his rookie campaign in 2019-20. Poole averaged 8.8 points on shooting splits of .333/.279/.798. While his scoring was notable, his shooting efficiency was nothing to be overly excited about.

The following season, Poole increased his scoring average to 12 points per contest. Even more important is that he raised his field goal percentage by nearly 10 percent, converting 43.2 of his overall attempts.

While Poole had a solid sophomore campaign, his stock rose even higher last season. He played in 76 games for the Warriors (including 51 starts) and he posted career highs in several categories. This list includes points (18.5), rebounds (3.4), and assists (4.0).

It is also worth mentioning that Poole shot a career-best 44.8 percent from the field and he converted 36.4 percent of his attempts from the 3-point line. But the story doesn’t end there.

Sure, Poole was not playoff-tested going into last year’s playoffs. But despite that fact, he played like a guy who has been there before.

Jordan Poole plays a crucial role during the Warriors’ title run

In 22 playoff games (five starts), Jordan Poole compiled averages of 17 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. He shot an efficient 50.8 percent from the field. Poole also shot a very respectable 39.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Poole also made his presence felt in the 2022 NBA Finals series against the Boston Celtics. In the team’s two losses, Poole averaged 9.5 points per contest on 40 percent shooting from the field.

Conversely, in the Warriors’ four wins, he averaged 15 points per contest on 44.6 shooting from the field. Needless to say, Poole played a key role in helping the Dubs capture their fourth title in eight seasons.

In reaching this deal, Poole will be in a Warriors uniform through the 2026-27 campaign. And based on what we’ve seen thus far, this is a win-win situation for both sides.
