Chauncey Billups retires from the NBA

Chauncey Billups

After playing 17 seasons in the top basketball league in the world, Chauncey Billups has decided that it was time to hang up his jersey and retire. The 37-year-old guard held career averages of 15.2 ppg and 5.4 apg. Also known as “Mr. Big Shot,” Billups won an NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004 and was also named the MVP of that Finals series. The five-time All-Star had been battling injuries during the twilight years of his career and managed to play in only 80 games over his last four seasons.

“It’s just time. I’m happy, excited. The game was very, very good to me. I felt like I was equally as good to the game the way I played it and the way I respected it and the way I carried myself through the process.”
