Barcelona emerges victorious in first EuroLeague El Clasico vs Real Madrid

Barcelona endured the comeback of Real Madrid and triumphed over their arch rivals in the first El Clasico of the EuroLeague season (79-72).

The Catalans were in control for the majority of the night and led by as many as 23 points (50-27). The “Whites”, though, went on a 24-42 run and cut the deficit to five (74-69).

Yet, they could not come closer than that and suffered their fourth loss in the first five EuroLeague games.

Kyle Kuric led the winners with 15 points, whereas Trey Thompkins had 14 points for the losing squad.

Barcelona improved to 4-1 in the EuroLeague standings, whereas Real Madrid dropped to 1-4.

Bayern Munich set a club record in the EuroLeague, thanks to its victory over Olympiacos at home (74-68).

The Bavarians extended their winning strak to four games, which is their best-ever in the EuroLeague.

Wade Baldwin, in his first appearance against his former team, led all scorers with 18 points. Vladimir Lucic added 16, along with four rebounds and three assists.

Olympiacos saw its three-game winning streak in the EuroLeague come to an end, despite their late comeback.

The Greek giants led only once in the contest (49-50) and saw Bayern have control of the game from start to finish.

The “Reds” turned things arund multiple times in the contest, but came up short and were defeated. Kostas Papanikolaou was the top scorer of the losing squad, with 13 points.

Bayern is on top of the EuroLeague standings, with a 4-1 record. For its part, Olympiacos dropped to 3-2.

Maccabi Tel Aviv ended its three-game losing streak after its road victory over Khimki (87-89).

It was a late thriller in Moscow, which was decided in overtime, with the Israelis earning the win.

Tyler Dorsey exploded with eight three-pointers and 26 points for the winners, while four more players scored in double figures.

Khimki star Alexey Shved shined in his season debut in the EuroLeague, with 32 points (along with 11 assists).

Greg Monroe (15 points off the bench) and Devin Booker (14, along with 12 rebounds) also stood out for the losing squad.

Khimki remained winless after the first five EuroLeague rounds (0-5), while Maccabi Tel-Aviv now is at 2-3.

The game between ASVEL Villeurbanne and Anadolu Efes was suspended, as the French team is dealing with multiple positive coronavirus cases.

EuroLeague Basketball will reschedule the match to a later date.
