Anadolu Efes climbs to 2nd in the EuroLeague standings after eighth straight win

Anadolu Efes continued its unstoppable run in the EuroLeague and extended its winning streak to eight games, maintaining a top four push.

Efes played excellent on both ends of the floor and decimated Maccabi Tel-Aviv on the road (66-90), climbing to second in the EuroLeague standings.

The Turks took control from the opening tip and never looked back. The visitors led by as many as 30 points in the contest and cruised to the victory, as the Israelis never recovered.

Anadolu Efes has now won eight straight games in the EuroLeague and improved to 19-10 on the table, climbing to the second place.

On the other hand, Maccabi has been in a free fall over the last two months and is one step away from the elimination from the EuroLeague playoffs.

The Israelis have won only once in their last seven EuroLeague games and dropped to 14th in the standings, at 11-17.

“The way that we play, we share the ball. Every single night, it’s not the same guy. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes Micic, Kruno, Roddy, Adrien, whoever. You know, we have a lot of weapons.

And when you play like that, you play unselfish, it’s very hard to defend. And then defensively, we all fight, we all know each other, we know our strengths and weaknesses, and at this point, we’re just rolling,” Efes star Shane Larkin told reporters, via the official website of the EuroLeague.

“It’s really fun. The three years we’ve played together it’s been fun. But the better you play, the more responsibility you have. You have to prove it every day, which is logical.

For us, these last two months have been really successful, today also. And I think that we just have to stay humble, stay on the ground, and keep playing this way,” Larkin’s teammate Vasilije Micic added.

Anadolu Efes will seek to earn its ninth straight EuroLeague win when they face Bayern Munich on the road on Friday. On the contrary, the game between Maccabi and ASVEL Villeurbanne has been postponed by the EuroLeague and will be played on April 4.
