Zalgiris Kaunas makes it 4 LKL titles in a row
Zalgiris Kaunas is the champion of the Lithuanian LKL once more after the club downed Neptunas Klaipeda 90-70 in the finals series. The Game 6 victory ensured Zalgiris wrapped a 4-2 series win in front of its home fans inside the imposing Zalgiris Arena. It was a crushing win on the night as the Kaunas outfit cemented its position at the top of Lithuanian Basketball by claiming a fourth consecutive LKL crown (it is the clubs 19th championship win overall).
The game never seemed in doubt with the hosts offering a solid attacking display, playing in 25 dimes throughout the game. Neptunas will rue going so close but falling at the final hurdle, although it is hard to argue that Zalgiris is a deserving champion.

The hosts wasted no time in signalling their intentions by storming into a lead through the first quarter, and an impressive 10 minutes resulted in an early 27-17 lead. Zalgiris’ blistering scoring eased off in the second frame and Klaipeda was allowed more time at the basket, but still the home team snatched the period to hold an impressive 46-35 lead. The teams were already separated by double digits at the start of the third quarter and Zalgiris did not ease up during the stanza, winning the quarter 19-17 to extend the score to 65-52. The game was already beyond the visitors, but Zalgiris made sure by pouring in 24 points through the fourth quarter to put the final touches on a commanding title winning success.
Martynas Pocius was the high scorer for Zalgiris with 16 points, but Justin Dentmon was the stand out player once again with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Robertas Javtokas grabbed 9 boards of is own, while also netting 15 points.
Martynas Mazeika was the top scorer in the game with 22 points in the losing effort, while Vytautas Sarakauskas put down 10 points and took 8 balls off the glass.
