Wizards Call up two D-Leaguers
NEW YORK, Dec. 25, 2012 – The Washington Wizards today signed guards Shelvin Mack (Maine Red Claws) and Garrett Temple (Reno Bighorns) for the seventh and eighth GATORADE Call-Ups of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. Mack and Temple join more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.
Mack (6-3, 215, Butler) has appeared in 10 games for the Red Claws this season, averaging 20.2 points, 7.1 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 40.7 minutes. He led Maine in scoring twice and led the team in assists in all 10 contests. Mack returns to the Wizards having been selected by the team in the second round (34th overall) in the 2011 NBA Draft. In 64 games for Washington last season, he averaged 3.6 points, 2.0 assists, 1.4 rebounds and 12.2 minutes.
Temple (6-5, 180, Louisiana State) has played in nine games for the Bighorns this season, averaging 14.7 points, 5.8 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 36.0 minutes. Temple led the Bighorns in scoring three times and was the assist leader in six games. He returns to the NBA having played in 51 career games for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Bobcats during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. He owns NBA careers averages of 3.8 points, 1.1 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 11.1 minutes.
Mack and Temple are expected to join the Wizards today and be available when the team hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 26 in Washington.
