Warriors’ Klay Thompson Ejected For the First Time
Klay Thompson’s ejection headlined a heated game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns.
For the first time since entering the NBA in 2011, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has been ejected from a game. Thompson saw his night end early during the Warriors’ 134-105 loss to Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors were trailing the Suns by five points at the seventh-minute mark of the fourth quarter when Thompson and Booker figured in a back-and-forth conversation that ultimately led to two technical fouls for the Warriors star.
Klay only logged 18 minutes of play in the loss. He struggled pretty much the whole night, making just one of his eight field goals and missing all his five tries from three-point territory. This is not the first time that Klay has struggled in the early goings of the season. In the Warriors’ first three games, the five-time All-Star shooting guard is only averaging 14.0 points, while shooting a paltry 40.5% overall clip from the field, including a below-average 34.8% clip from the three-point line.
Klay Thompson, who will turn 33 next year, already has five All-Star appearances on his resume. There’s no doubt that he will solve his shooting struggles at some point this season, and this altercation with Booker will only light up his competitive fire. Thompson has seen his share of individual troubles, including battling multiple major injuries, a setback that saw him sit out for two straight seasons. He came back during the 2021-22 season, helping the Warriors go all the way and beat the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals.
