Vytenis Lipkevicius lands with S. Oliver Wuerzburg
Vytenis Lipkevicius (196 cm) inked a deal with S. Oliver Wuerzburg (Germany-BBL). The 28-year-old Lithuanian forward is making his first move to the German league in his career. Since the beginning of his career in 2007, Lipkevicius only played in Lithuania with four different teams in the LKL. Last season, Lipkevicius was with Vytautas Prienu (Lithuania-LKL) where he only played one season. The big man scored 11.1 ppg in 33 LKL games while also grabbing 4.5 rpg and 1.5 spg. Vytautas gave him 27.5 mpg of playing time during the LKL. His team went on to win the regular season title as well as take the playoff championship for a complete Lithuanian sweep.
The Lithuanian team also competes in the Baltic league and FIBA European Cup. Lipkevicius received around the same amount of playing time and scored about 11 ppg in both competitions.
Lipkevicius will now get to play in the BBL for the first time in his career. He will join a Wuerzburg team that is coming off an underachieving 2016/2017 campaign. They finished 14th in the BBL with an 11-21 record. The addition of the big man should supply the team with a big body that is capable of shooting well from deep. Lipkevicius shot 37.8 percent from three in the LKL a season ago.
