Virtus Bologna stays in command of Serie A with 6-0 start
The Italian Serie A completed Round 6 of its 2019-20 regular season on Sunday with Segafredo Virtus Bologna still reigning supreme atop of the leaderboards. The club has been stellar so far, with a 6-0 start in the domestic Italian League.
They have been put to the test and have passed with flying colors in the past. To-date, the closest challenge came from Germani Brescia, whom they narrowly edged out 80-82 on the road on Saturday.
Bologna looks blessed by the Gods. Despite losing in the assists, 3-pointers made and rebounds categories to Brescia, they still managed to squeeze out this impressive win on the road.
It comes as no surprise that the victors were powered to victory by the 25 points of living legend Milos Teodosic. The veteran Serbian guard did not look like he’s skipped a beat since returning to Europe from his stint in the NBA. Vincent Hunter was also important in the win as he contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds to the box score.
Brescia got a huge game from Awudu Abass, who came through with an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double to pace his team.
The loss sends Brescia to seventh place in the league standings with a 3-3 record.
While Virtus Bologna are not unstoppable, they’re still definitely the team to beat this season, considering their fantastic early run.
