Vernon Macklin inks with Al Jaysh Army
Vernon Macklin (208 cm, Florida’11) continues to be Asian-bound this 2014/2015 season after agreeing to a deal with Al Jaysh Army SC Doha (Qatar-D1). During the 2013-14 season the American played for Liaoning Jiebao Hunters (China-CBA) and over seven games he averaged 12.9ppg and 5.7rpg. In 2013 Vernon Macklin played for Philippine team Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (PBA) and became the third top-scorer of the league with 23.3ppg and doubled up over the campaign with 14.7rpg.
He went to the Philippines from D-League team the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, with whom he played 22 games that season and scored 14.6 points per game. Macklin had started the 2012-2013 campaign with Royal Hali Gaziantep in the Turkish Basketball League and managed averages of 6.6ppg and 1.6rpg over 6 games.
Macklin was drafted from Florida University to the Detroit Pistons for the 2011-2012 season. With the Pistons he played 23 games but only averaged a few minutes on the court picking up 2.0ppg.
