Jonas Valanciunas (211 cm) has been named the Most Valuable Player of the recently concluded NBA Summer League held in Las Vegas. The Lithuanian big man is entering his sophomore season for the Toronto Raptors this 2013-14. He averaged 18.8 ppg and 10.0 rpg in four Summer League games. He showed a lot of improvement post-All-Star break where he logged averages of 11.1 ppg and 6.9 rpg. He is in store for a big improvement now that he will no longer be sharing the paint with Andrea Bargnani.

The Las Vegas Summer League culminated with the Golden State Warriors defeating the Phoenix Suns, 91-77. The Warriors were led by Ian Clark’s 33 points as he knocked down 7-10 shots from deep. Kent Bazemore (195 cm, ODU’12), who made a strong case to win the MVP honors himself, finished the championship game with 18 points and five assists.
