USA Basketball announces plans for Olympic training camps
USA Basketball has finalized plans for its men’s and women’s national teams in the run-up to the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Coach Gregg Popovich and the men’s team will begin training camp in Las Vegas on July 6 at MGM Resorts. Australia, Nigeria, Argentina, and Spain will also make preparations for the Olympic men’s basketball tournament in Las Vegas, it was announced on Thursday.
USA Basketball squads ranked No. 1 in world
Before traveling to Japan, USA Basketball gets set to have its team in the spotlight as the world’s No. 1-ranked men’s squad and the top-ranked women’s club, according to FIBA.
On the women’s side, Team USA bench boss Dawn Staley will guide the defending Olympic champs in Japan. Before that, the Americans are slated to start training camp around July 12 in Vegas. Australia and Nigeria are also planning to train in the Nevada city before heading to Tokyo.
In March, 57 players were named finalists for the U.S. men’s national team for the Tokyo Olympics.
