Unics Kazan releases coach Aco Petrovic
Russian club Unics Kazan has fired Serbian coach Aleksandar “Aco” Petrovic. The club was not happy with the results so far. Unics Kazan plays in three different competitions. First of all in the Russian PBL where the club is currently ranked 8th, with a 3-6 record. In the VTB United League Kazan is ranked 4th in Group A with a 8-4 record. Last but not least, in the Eurocup Kazan is tied with the other three teams of Group L after losing last night in Belgrade with 73-81 against Red Star from Serbia. Coach Aco Petrovic has coached in Russia and Ukraine since 2005, with an exception for the 2009/2010 season when he coached Red Star Belgrade. Coach Petrovic already coached Unics Kazan in 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. Aco Petrovic was the assistant coach of the national team of Serbia & Montenegro that won the World Championship in 2002. He is not to be confused with another famous coach who also listens to the name Aco Petrovic. This Croatian coach is the coach of the Bosnian national team and Croatian club Cedevita Zagreb. He is the brother of the late Drazen Petrovic (1963-1993).
