Ukraine, Budivelnyk crush BC Kyiv
Ukraine Superleague champions Budivelnyk Kiev opened the 2014/2015 league season in style by demolishing BC Kyiv 48-90 on the road. The commanding nature of the victory hinted towards further Budivelnyk Kiev dominance in the Ukraine Superleague during this campaign.
As the score suggests, the game was never in doubt as the visitors swept the four quarters to claim an easy win. BC Kiev were barely in the game as Budivelnyk stormed the first quarter and won the frame 12-28 to take control of the game. A closer second quarter saw the teams go easy on the baskets, but the visitors extended their lead to 26-45 at the long break. The hosts tried to keep pace with the away team, but once again Budivelnyk improved their advantage, taking the third quarter 14-19 to lead 40-64 after 30 minutes. The game seemed over with the fourth quarter to come, and Budivelnyk Kiev killed the contest with a stunning 8-26 fourth quarter to win the game.
The victory was built on an unselfish Budivelnyk attack that dished out 33 assists during the game as five players scored double digits. Oleksandr Lypovyy scored 15 points and handed out 7 assists, Konstantin Anikenko scored 14 points, Maksym Pustozvonov scored 13 points, while Michailis Anisimovas and Aleksandr Kolchenko scored 10 apiece.
