Tweety Carter signs with ESSM Le Portel Cote d’Opale
Tweety Carter (180 cm, Baylor ’10) is on the move to ESSM Le Portel Cote d’Opale (France-Pro A). Carter moves to France after playing last season with PGE Turow Zgorzelec (Poland-PLK). Turow played Carter for 27.1 mpg and the guard contributed well with 12.3 ppg and 4.4 apg. Shooting from three was also a strength for the 30-year old American as he made 35.3 percent of his attempts.
The team did not have a great 2016/2017 regular season. They finished in tenth with a 17-15 record. However, Turow found a way to make a deep run in the Polish Cup playoffs. The team pulled off a couple upsets early on and found themselves making it to the Polish Cup semifinals. This was as far as the team could go. Although, the deep run should be viewed as a bright spot in the season.
Carter will be making his return to the Pro A. He last appeared in the French league with Boulazac Basket Dordogne (France-Pro A). The guard played with Boulazac from 2014-2016 and started as the point guard. Year two was the best season for Carter with the French team. In 31.5 mpg, he scored 12.1 ppg while shooting 38.5 percent from deep as well as finding 6.3 apg.
Before joining Toulazac, Carter made his debut in the French league with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne (France-Pro A) in the 2013/2014 season. The French team only kept him around for ten games. Carter then moved on to Germany to end the season.
