Turkish Airlines EuroLeague: Buducnost Upsets Barcelona
Turkish Airlines EuroLeague action resumed on Thursday, November 6th and Round 11 got underway with five games. The fifth window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers just ended and we’re all set to resume professional basketball competition from all over the World.
One of the more interesting games was a come-from-behind upset victory by Buducnost over FC Barcelona Lassa 67-64. The fans helped lift the spirits of their team and Buducnost responded with a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter to seize control of the game and eventually walk away with their third win of the season. Barcelona falls to 6-5 and temporarily drop to seventh place in the standings.
Both teams struggled from long-range, with Buducnost nailing just 7-of-24 shots from downtown but Barca fared no better, shooting a poor 6-0f-26 from deep. With their shots having trouble finding the mark, Buducnost pounded the rock in the paint, where they found more success.
Nemanja Gordic was the main protagonist of that aforementioned run, with him being responsible for eight of those points. He and Earl Clark both scored a team-high 12 points for the night to lead Buducnost to victory. It’s obviously a step in the right direction for the Montenegrin powerhouse, as they have struggled early in the season.
