Top three NBA Title Contenders for 2021-22 Season
The 2021-2022 NBA season is literally right around the corner. Last season concluded with the Milwaukee Bucks winning their first title in 50 years. They defeated the Phoenix Suns in six games after losing the first two games of that series.
While that was quite the accomplishment for a small-market team, for all intent purposes, that’s old news. Climbing the NBA mountaintop is never easy, especially for the ball clubs that are seeking to repeat. With that being said, here’s a short list of legitimate title contenders for the 2021-22 NBA season.
NBA title contender #3: Los Angles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers won it all back in 2020. But they barely snuck into the playoffs last season. And with Anthony Davis nursing a groin injury, the Lakers were knocked out by the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the playoffs. With a healthy AD back in the mix, along with a few notable offseason acquisitions, the Lakers are a team that no one should sleep on. Simply put,, they will be one of the top four teams in the western conference and they have all the pieces in place to make a deep postseason run.
NBA title contender #2: Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the favorites to win it all last season. With the trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving, it’s easy to understand why. Unfortunately for the Nets, things didn’t go according to plan. Sure, they did knock off the Boston Celtics in five games in the opening round. However, they were defeated in seven games by the Bucks in the conference semifinals despite winning the first two games of the series.
To be fair, only one of the team’s big three — Kevin Durant — played the entire series, and they nearly advanced. Taking that into consideration, look for the Nets to be right in the thick of the championship race once again, even if the organization won’t allow Irving to suit up until he’s eligible under the COVID-19 vaccination mandate.
NBA title contender #1: Milwaukee Bucks
As it was previously mentioned, the Bucks are the reigning NBA champs. But despite this fact, they don’t automatically come in with the best odds to win it all.
The Bucks have a difficult season opener against Miami, where they are only slight favorites according to these NBA lines for weekly games.
This seems rather odd considering that Milwaukee kept its roster intact for the most part. As the saying goes, though, “To be the best, you have to beat the best.” And until that happens, the Bucks should be the favorites to win it again in 2021-22.
