Three Share Lead at Spanish ACB
After four rounds of action this 2017-18 season, only three teams remain undefeated in the Spanish ACB or Liga Endesa. They sit atop of the league standings and they are FC Barcelona, Montakit Fuenlabrada, and Real Madrid. FC Barcelona has retooled and rebuilt their team after a disappointing 2016-17 campaign. They appear to have bounced back and have started off 2017-18 as strong as ever. The ACB is officially on notice. Barca’s back! Fuenlabrada has played solid thus far and has kept in stride with the more powerhouses of the league. Real Madrid, at the point, is a perennial mainstay as one of the league’s top teams.
One of the most important games of the round was between Real Madrid and 2016-17 league upstart Valencia Basket. It was a grudge match that was highly anticipated. Could this be the latest chapter in a fresh rivalry in the Spanish ACB? Well, this round went to Real Madrid as they edged out Valencia, 82-86.
It was an exciting game that was controlled by Real Madrid’s star Luka Doncic. The Slovenian flirted with a triple-double as dropped 16 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists. Anthony Randolph led the team in scoring with an 18-point, 6-rebound performance.
Will Thomas and Tibor Pleiss paced Valencia with 15 points, apiece.
