Three Euroleague make-up games played on Tuesday
The penultimate week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season got underway on Tuesday, with a trio of makeup games carrying major significance in the race for the playoffs.
Panathinaikos OPAP Athens 83-95 Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv
Maccabi continued its late EuroLeague Playoff push and came on the verge of punching a post-season ticket with an 83-95 road win at Panathinaikos in their rescheduled Round 21 game on Tuesday night. Maccabi took control with a 0-12 run to end the high-scoring first half, then never allowed the hosts closer than 5 points in the second. Derrick Williams paced Maccabi with 17 points, and Jalen Reynolds collected 16 points plus nine rebounds. Nemanja Nedovic was the top scorer with 21 points for the hosts.
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 57-66 ALBA Berlin
ALBA kept its playoff hopes alive by overcoming direct rival Fenerbahce 57-66 on Tuesday night. Fenerbahce raced to an early 9-point lead, but ALBA came back to take control with a 2-18 run bridging the first and second quarters. ALBA improved to 11-14, and Fenerbahce fell to 9-16. Yovel Zoosman powered ALBA with five three-pointers in his total of a career-high 20 points, while Melih Mahmutoglu was Fenerbahce’s only scorer in double digits with 16.
AX Armani Exchange Milan 84-77 FC Bayern Munich
Milan rallied from a double-digit second-quarter deficit to clinch home-court advantage in the playoffs by downing Bayern 84-77 in Tuesday’s rescheduled Round 30 game. Milan improved to a share of the league’s second-best record, 18-8, while Bayern dropped to 12-12 and eighth place. Shavon Shields led the way with 22 points, and Nicolo Melli had 11 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. Vladimir Lucic shined for Bayern with 26 points.
