Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green, who make up 65% of Golden State’s points per game, will not play against the Cavs. Also, it’s likely that big men Jonathan Kuminga and JaMychal Green will play.
The Warriors’ game on Friday is the last of a five-game road trip. On Thursday, they lost to the Boston Celtics 121-118 in overtime. Golden State, which has a record of 22-23, is 2-2 on this road trip, and six of its next eight games will be at home. The Warriors are No. 9 in the Western Conference, but they are only four games behind the No. 3 Sacramento Kings (25-18).
Curry scores the most points for the Warriors (29.3 ppg), but Thompson (20.9), Wiggins (18.0 ppg), and Green (8.0 ppg) are also in the top five scorers for Golden State (Jordan Poole, at 21.1 ppg, is the fifth).
Golden State’s core is mostly healthy, but this game won’t have these four players. Curry came back on January 10 after missing 11 games due to a partially dislocated left shoulder. Wiggins returned earlier in the month after missing 15 games (strained muscle in right leg; non-COVID illness).
