Croatian basketball federation embarrassed

The Croatian basketball federation had planned a 20 year anniversary in celebrating and remembering the silver won at the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992. However, to everybody’s surprise, not one single player from that team showed up!

Croatia’92 was probably the best team in the history of Croatian basketball. Full with NBA players and led by the late Drazen Petrovic. Other notable players from that team were; Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja, Stojan Vrankovic, Arijan Komazec, Zan Tabak, Velimir Perasovic, Danko Cvjiticanin, Vladan Alanovic, Franjo Arapovic, Alen Gregov and Aramis Naglic.

Croatia lost in the final with 85-117 against Team USA, thed original Dream Team. Considered by many as the best Basketball team of all times.

Although the Croatian basketball federation had personally invited all players, none of them showed up. Nobody knows the real reason. Some say that the timing was off, but others say that the no-show was a deliberate boycott aimed at Danko Radic, the president of the Croatian basketball federation. It is no secret that he is highly unpopular and that there have been several attempts by players to remove him from his function.
