Supercopa Endesa Draw Ushers in 2016/17

The draw for the 2016 Supercopa Endesa (Spanish Supercup) has been announced and with it the bubbling of eager anticipation for the 2016/17 season begins. This year’s Supercup will be held in Baskonia and as it is customary, hosts Laboral Kutxa Vitoria are automatically participants. The result of the draw has the Baskonian club facing up against Herbalife Gran Canaria in the semi-finals. Laboral Kutxa has won the Supercup four times now, while Gran Canaria is in search of its first crown. This will be a grudge match of sorts, carrying over from the 2015/16 Liga Endesa Playoffs. Laboral Kutxa edged the yellow shirts for the fourth-place finish based on tiebreakers.

This will be an exciting match, with Gran Canaria ready to celebrate the debut of recently signed Bo McCalebb. Meanwhile, Laboral Kutxa will be gearing up for a deep run this 2016/17 season after adding some key players this off-season. As far as the Supercopa Endesa is concerned though, the edge belongs to Barca. They proudly hold six titles, compared to four for Real Madrid.
