Morris Twins of the Suns charged with Assault
The Morris twins of the Phoenix Suns, Markieff and Marcus, have officially been charged with felony aggravated assault. On January 24th, 36-year-old Erik Hood alleged that he attended a basketball tournament held at the Nina Mason Pulliam Recreation Center in Phoenix and that he saw the twins enter the gym with three other men. After the game, he was confronted by the men, struck from behind, repeatedly punched and kicked by all five men. The mauling was witnessed by a 27-year-old woman. Their first court date has been set on May 7th.
Markieff and Marcus were each recently signed to four-year contract extensions by the Phoenix Suns. The team gave this statement:
“We are disappointed to learn that Marcus and Markieff Morris have been charged. This is a serious matter, and we will treat it as such. However, at this time, we think it is most appropriate to continue to monitor the legal process as it unfolds before responding further.”
