Strasbourg wins fourth consecutive BCL game against Oostende
Strasbourg continued their dominance over Oostende in the Basketball Champions League with an 83-77 victory on Oostende’s home court.
In seven games between the two teams in BCL history, Strasbourg is now 6-1 overall against Oostende and 4-0 when playing in Oostende.
All nine players who played for Strasbourg scored, and five scored in double figures (John Roberson 20 points, DeAndre Lansdowne 14 points, Yannis Morin 13 points, Jaromir Bohacik 11 points, Matt Mitchell 11 points).
Oostende was paced by Pierre-Antoine Gillet (21 points and four assists on 7-of-9 FG, 4-of-6 3P) and Levi Randolph (17 points, two rebounds, and 3assists on 8-of-16 FG), as the two combined for almost 50% of the team’s points.
Turning point: At the half, Strasbourg was up by one (39-38), as both teams led for 7:54, but Strasbourg then expanded their lead to 67-57 after three quarters and never relinquished the lead again.
Oostende got as close as two but couldn’t grab the lead back or tie up the game at any point.
Game hero: Roberson led the way for Strasbourg with 20 points and six assists, on 4-of-8 shooting from three-point and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
The 32-year-old was scoreless at halftime and eventually got going, scoring all 20 points in the second half.
Stats don’t lie: One of the main stats from the game was rebounds, as Strasbourg outrebounded Oostende 39-29 and 14-8 in offensive rebounds.
Strasbourg was able to get 12 second-chance points.
Both teams had similar shooting lines, with Strasbourg going 48.4% from the field and Oostende going 46.6%.
The game featured only two lead changes, and the biggest lead was 10 points for Strasbourg.
Bottom line: Strasbourg move to 2-0, while Oostende has an uphill climb after falling to 0-2 in Group F.
Strasbourg and Oostende play their next BCL game on Oct. 26 against Tofas Bursa and Kalev/Cramo, respectively.
