Stelmet Zielona Gora wins 2015 Polish TBL
Stelmet Zielona Gora is the champion of the Polish TBL once again after overcoming reigning title holders PGE Turow Zgorzelec in the finals series. The 75-69 victory in Game 6 capped a stunning comeback for Stelmet Zielona Gora after the club rallied from being 2-0 down in the series. Four consecutive wins ensured that the championship trophy went back to Zielona Gora after a year in Zgorzelec; it is the second time the club has won the TBL.
Stelmet ZG started the game well and with home court advantage looked in control early on, but PGE Turow fought back to make it a one point game at the first break (17-16). The teams traded baskets at the start of the second period and through the stanza the score from Q1 was repeated, with the hosts winning 17-16 to make it 34-32 at the midway buzzer. The third quarter proved to be the difference as Stelmet ZG upped the scoring by draining 27 points, enough for a 61-53 lead through thirty minutes. PGE Turow rallied back in a winning fourth act display, but Zielona Gora managed to hold on and wrap up the TBL title.
Quinton Hosley topped the scoring on the night with 21 points for the champions, while he also added 6 rebounds. Lukasz Koszarek was arguably the star of the show though as he went close to a triple-double thanks to 15 points, 11 assists, and 9 boards. Aaron Cel and Russell Robinson scored 10 points apiece, with Cel also grabbing 9 off the glass.
Tony Taylor topped PGE Turow Zgorzelec with 17 points, followed by Michal Chylinski with 11 points and Mardy Collins with 10 points.
