Starters announced for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game
The NBA has announced the starters for the upcoming 2022 NBA All-Star Game.
The starters for the East will be Trae Young, DeMar DeRozan, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant. The West will be represented by Ja Morant, Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins and Morant are first-time All-Stars. DeRozan was named to his first All-Star game since 2018. The King is the first in League history to be called an All-Star starter for 18 straight years. KD will miss the All-Star festivities this year due to the sprained knee he suffered early in January. This is the fifth year in the row the leading vote-getter from each conference will pick their team. As the top vote-getters, Durant and James will draft their teams.
The starters were determined by a vote divided amongst fans (50), media (25), and players (25). Reserves will be revealed on Feb. 3, and James and Durant will draft their teams seven days later on Feb. 10. The All-Star game will be played on Feb. 20.
