After being in stunned by Baskonia in Game 1, Real Madrid stormed back in Game 2 98-91 to even the Spanish Liga Endesa finals series 1-1. The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions made this battle for the Spanish title more exciting. Both teams have proven that they can win. Games have been relatively close. Now it this series will end up boiling down to which club wants it more.
While Baskonia took the game outside, Real Madrid pounded the rock in the paint and attacked the basket with tenacious intensity. Gustavo Ayon took care of business in the post and secured a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double performance. Jaycee Carroll and Trey Thompkins led the charge with 16 points, apiece. Luka Doncic had a relatively quiet night with 11 points but he brought those intangibles that make him a special player beyond his years.
Baskonia won the three-point shooting battle in this encounter. They made 14 three-point shots compared to 10 by Real Madrid. Matt Janning made a perfect 6-of-6 shots from beyond the arc, en route to his game-high 18 points. He was limited to nine points in Game 1, but Janning erupted in this one. Unfortunately, it was not enough to power his team to victory.
