Sodertalje wins 2013 Swedish Championship
The Sodertalje Kings defeated the Sundsvall Dragons 109-104 in overtime to become the 2012-13 Swedish Champions. The Kings surged through the grueling game-six battle at the free-throw line, converting 27 of 32 attempts at the charity stripe. They were also carried by the impressive effort of American guard John Roberson (180 cm, Texas Tech’11) who scored 42 points while handing out five assists. Roberson’s performance was complemented by the effort of Bosnian forward Toni Bizaca (202 cm) who added 23 points and eight rebounds.
Sundsvall fought valiantly behind the combined efforts of Iceland’s Jakob Sigurdarson (192 cm) who scored 27 points and his countryman Hlynur Baeringsson (200 cm) who did a yeoman’s job on both the offensive and on the boards as he scored 14 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and handing out eight assists.
The last time Sodertalje won a Swedish Championship was way back in 2005. They reached the Finals in 2012.
