Sergio Rodriguez signs for the 76ers
Sergio Rodriguez (191 cm) is heading back to the NBA where he will play for the Philadelphia 76ers, ending a long association with Real Madrid (Spain, Liga Endesa and Euroleague). The Spanish international has been with Los Blancos since 2010 and has been a key player in ushering in a new era of success for the European giant.
With Rodriguez in the team, Real Madrid has secured three Liga Endesa titles, four Spanish Cups, and one Euroleague crown. During the 2015/2016 season, Rodriguez helped the club secure a league and cup double, playing 42 games and averaging 11.0 points and 5.9 assists per game.
The point guard has consistently been among the best scorers and suppliers in European Basketball for five years, the kind of form that attracted the 76ers, who will pay $8 million for his services. Rodriguez has played in the NBA before, featuring for the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers between 2008 and 2010.
