Sergio Llull, Real Madrid stun Anadolu Efes to force Game 4 in EuroLeague playoffs
Sergio Llull was unstoppable and helped Real Madrid edge Anadolu Efes in Game 3 of the EuroLeague playoffs (80-76) and remain alive in the series.
The “Whites” made a stellar performance in the final part of the match and came back from a 12-point deficit (64-76) to seal the deal.
Playing very well on both ends, Real closed the game on an impressive 16-0 run and defeated the Turks in a must-win game.
For their part, Efes dropped a double-digit lead multiple times in the contest and missed the chance to sweep the EuroLeague playoff series and advance to the EuroLeague Final Four.
Llull scored nine of his team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. He was 4 for 7 on three-point shooting and also dished seven assists, all in just 21:28 on the floor.
“I am not surprised. I believe in this team. When you are in this position, you have to fight until the end. And we did it. We are happy now. But, we have to clear our minds and on Thursday we have another war.
I think, when we control the rebounds and control the rhythm of the game, we play better. It is what we have to try to do on Thursday,” Llull told reporters afterwards.
“On offense, we panicked in the last 3 or 4 minutes. Maybe we were celebrating too early, because we stopped to play [as we do regularly].
It’s 2-1; it’s not an easy series. Now, we will try to have a better personal performance on Thursday,” Efes head coach Ergin Ataman said, via the official website of the EuroLeague.
Real won to force Game 4 of the series on Thursday night. The Spanish giants are still hoping to become the first team ever to come back from a 0-2 series deficit. Efes remains a win away from a trip to the EuroLeague Final Four.
