Serbian KLS, FMP wins at home
The Serbian KLS got underway on Friday with a clash between FMP Belgrade and OKK Belgrade serving as the 2014/2015 curtain raiser. The rest of the teams will enter the fray on Saturday when six more games are played out around Serbia.
FMP Belgrade vs. OKK Belgrade, 77-70
FMP used home court advantage to down OKK in the opening game to set the early pace in the Serbian KLS at the start of the season. In a game where both teams were sloppy from downtown (FMP shot 17.4% and OKK 22.2%) it was in the arc where the clash was decided.
Both teams hit the hardwood to tip off the season and through a hotly contested first quarter the hosts took the initiative in the closing minutes of the first stint. At the opening split FMP opened an eight point lead to take a 26-18 advantage into the second frame. During the second stanza the visitors found more consistency at the bucket to win the period 20-23, slashing the deficit to five points. At halftime the scoreboard read 46-41.
The third quarter proved decisive as it gave FMP the cushion needed to push to victory. OKK Belgrade got sloppy from two point and triple distance as the baskets dried, the away team offering just 10 points through the third. FMP responded with 19 points to lead 65-51 after thirty minutes of play. The visitors reversed in the fourth quarter and won the frame 13-19 to make it tight down the stretch, but ultimately FMP held on for the win.
Ognjen Dobric led FMP with 17 points and 7 rebounds, while Marko Guduric had 13 points and 7 boards.
Vuk Malidzan paced OKK with 17 points, with Nemanja Djordjevic scoring 15 points and Aleksa Avramovic securing 14 points.
