Serbia Wins Friendly Tournament in Belgrade
Serbia capped off a fruitful week on home soil as they won the trophy in a friendly tournament. The Serbian national team has looked strong amidst preparations for Eurobasket 2015. Serbia is coming off back-to-back wins over China and then most recently over Russia. Much to the delight of their fans in attendance, the Serbian squad put on display their fast-paced offense which translated to a 95-61 win over their Russian counterparts.
Serbia’s Milos Teodosic, who earned the competition’s Most Valuable Player award, was a true difference maker and his impact on the game was undeniable. Momentum shifted when he entered the game in the first frame and he sparked his team to a 23-3 run.
A third-quarter explosion by Serbia sealed the game and Russia was unable to wrench control of it from that point. They were build up a 26-point lead heading into the fourth and final quarter. From there it was just a matter of pacing themselves and avoiding any critical errors.
Miroslav Raduljica led Serbia with 15 points. Nemanja Nedovic added 13, while Milos Teodosic and Nikola Kalinic chipped in 12 points apiece. Russia’s Vitaly Fridzon ended up with a game-high 16 points.
Serbia has looked sharp in this friendly, managing to find wins despite missing some players. They along with France are considered to be two of the top contenders to win Eurobasket 2015.
