Scott Martin joins Newcastle Eagles

Scott Martin (203 cm, Notre Dame’13) is set to begin his professional career with the Newcastle Eagles (United Kingdom-BBL) this 2013-14 season. In 2012-13 Martin averaged 7.9 ppg and 5.9 rpg in 18 games during his senior year at college. He helped the Irish reach the Big East Tournament semifinals in three consecutive years (2011-13).

Martin is excited to begin his pro ball career and is set to fly across the pond soon. He had this to say regarding his future with Newcastle.

“I have a few friends that have visited England before and they all only have great things to say, so I am excited to have this opportunity and cannot wait to get over there and start the season. My hopes for the upcoming season are simply to help the team in anyway I can. Winning is the most important thing and I want to do whatever the team asks of me to get that done.”

The Eagles finished as the regular season runner-up in the British Basketball League in 2013.
