Scott Bamforth lands with Banco di Sardegna Sassari

Scott Bamforth (188 cm, Weber St. ’13) agreed to terms with Banco di Sardegna Sassari (Italy-Serie A). Bamforth heads to Italy for the first time in his five-year professional career. Since graduating, only Spain is where the 27- year-old swingman has competed. Last season, Bamforth signed with RETAbet Bilbao Basket (Spain-Liga Endesa) where he scored 14.5 ppg while shooting 39.2 percent from three. His scoring was on display in a bench role for Bilbao as well as contributing with 3.0 apg and 3.4 rpg in 23 Liga Endesa games. The team also competed in the Eurocup for eight games. Bamforth’s playing time remained the same on the Eurocup stage and he scored 12.3 ppg.

Now, Bamforth moves over to Italy to join Banco di Sardegna for next season. Last season was a solid year for the Italian team as they finished fifth in the Serie A with a 17-13 record. Banco di Sardegna also played a part in the Champions League in Group E. The failed to advance past the group stage, going 7-7  which was good enough for fifth in the group.
