Sacramento Kings Not Keen on Moving Harrison Barnes
Despite swirling speculations, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly not keen on trading Harrison Barnes.
Kings Won’t Trade Harrison Barnes Just Yet
Don’t expect the Sacramento Kings to shake up their roster anytime soon. Despite the recent rumors about the trade availability of veteran scoring forward Harrison Barnes, the Kings’ front office may not be too keen on moving him just yet. According to James Ham of ESPN 1320, Barnes’s name hasn’t been included in any trade talk, especially now that the team is honed in on “building chemistry” with their current personnel.
It does make sense, as the Kings are off to a strong start in the 2022-23 NBA season. They are currently sporting a record of nine wins against six defeats, which is good for the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings. Moreover, the Kings have won their last six games, a spectacular string of wins that included victories over perennial contenders such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Brooklyn Nets.
As for Harrison Barnes, he is still a vital cog of this resurgent Kings squad. He is still a regular starter for the Kings, although he is averaging his lowest playing time (31.2 minutes) since the 2015-16 season. Through 15 games this season, the 6-foot-8 combo forward is tallying a stat line of 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.8 blocks. It is being reported that Barnes is coveted by the Phoenix Suns, a championship-chasing contender who wants to shore up their wing depth. In that report made by Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Suns are also looking at the services of Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards, John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks, and KJ Martin of the Houston Rockets.
Harrison Barnes, who also suited up for the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks, on a four-year, $85 million contract that will expire after this season.
