Reginald Buckner lands with Cariduros de Fajardo
Reginald Buckner (206 cm, Mississippi ’13) is the newest member of Cariduros de Fajardo (Puerto Rico-BSN). Formerly of Hapoel Eilat (Israel-Winner Lague) where he played last season for the only time in his career. In 38 games in the Winner League, the American forward put up 10.1 ppg, mainly in the paint, in just 21.6 mpg. Buckner also showed his ability to rebound with 6.0 rpg and well as sending back 1.3 bpg. Hapoel Eilat finished their season with a 21-12 record which was good for second place in the standings. However, they ended up making an early exit from the playoffs as they lost to Maccabi Rishon (Israel-Winner League) in the quarter-finals.
Buckner will be making his return to the Puerto Rican league. He last appeared with Santeros de Aguada (Puerto Rico-BSN) for 41 games in the 2015 season. He played a prominent role on the team as he averaged 26.7 mpg while scoring 12.1 ppg with 10.3 rpg and 1.9 bpg. The league went on to award him with the defensive player of the year award for his efforts that season. The big man a lasting impression in the BSN and now makes his highly anticipated return.
The Fajardo team he joins is currently tied for first in the standings with an 18-9 record. The team tied with Fajardo is Buckner’s former team, Aguada. The American’s defensive presence could make the difference between these elite teams in the BSN.
