Regatas Lima ties finals 1-1
After losing Game 1 of the Peruvian Liga Nacional finals series Regatas Lima hit back by downing Real Club de Lima 87-73 in Game 2. The victory took the series to 1-1 and showed an improved Regatas outfit from Game 1. The hosts swept to victory and killed the 16 game winning streak that Real had been enjoying.
It was not an easy start for Regatas Lima though as the first quarter was tight and the teams were hard to separate. As the first break descended on the game the home team held a 19-18 lead. The second stanza followed in the same vain as both teams fought on court, but once again the hosts maintained a one point advantage, leading 38-37 at the midway point. In the third frame Regatas finally broke the Real Club perimeter to pour in 25 points and lead 63-57 after 30 minutes on the floor. A powerful 24-15 rally in the final quarter meant that the home team cruised down the stretch and tied the Liga Nacional finals at 1-1.
Howard Crawford paced Regatas Lima with 23 points, while Alejandro Bellatin scored 17, and Bruno Sambucetti 16.
Dallas Hunter was the game’s high scorer with 24 points for Real Club, with Antonio Hester backing him up with 15 of his own.
