Red Star Wins Over Mega Bemax on Christmas Day
Crevna Zvezda “Red Star” MTS Beograd closed out Round 13 of the ABA League 2017-18 regular season with a bang. They defeated Mega Bemax, 90-85 on Christmas Day. The Titans of Serbian basketball kept pace with league leaders, KK Buducnost Voli Podgorica, with both clubs sporting 11-2 records. The competition at the top of the league standings is both tight and fierce. Not too far behind, sitting in third place KK Cedevita Zagreb with an impressive 10-3 record of their own. Mega Bemax (4-9) falls to 11th place in the league standings after this loss.
Tempers were tested in this game as emotions heated up in the moment, but in the end, the game proved to be an exciting clash between two Serbian clubs. Red Star’s James Feldeine proved to be an unstoppable force Mega Bemax could not contain. The American dropped a game-high 24 points for the red-and-white shirts. Mega Bemax tightened their defense but sending him to the line proved futile as he capitalized by making 11-of-11 shots from the stripe. Veteran Pero Antic got going and his spirited play translated into a 12-point performance off the bench.
Mega Bemax got a great game from Aleksandar Lazic, who paced the team with a big double-double, scoring 17 points and hauling in 15 rebounds.
