Radnicki loses bluff poker and blinks first
Radnicki challenged the Serbian Basketball Federation over a dispute regarding the number of import players allowed for the Serbian Cup this weekend.
KK Radnicki Kragujevac had been warned that they had too many import players and only four of them are allowed in domestic competition.
Yesterday was the deadline for all teams to submit their team rosters for the cup, and Radnicki ignored the warnings and put all their imports on the official list.
The club threatened with a court case and also intended to get the FIBA involved. They were on collision course but today the Serbian Basketball Federation called their bluff. They once again made it very clear that some of the players on the Radnicki roster would not be eligible to play in the cup games and Radnicki would have to face the consequences if they ignored this last warning.
Radnicki was the first one to blink in this stare-down and decided today to remove Australians Steven Markovic and Mark Worhtingthon, plus American Kyle Visser from the team roster. That still leaves Radnicki with five more import players, but one of them was not going to play anyway because of an injury.
