Quimsa crowned Argentine champion
The 2015 Argentina LigaA champion has been decided, with the title going to Quimsa Santiago Del Estero after they overcame GECR Indalo in Game 6 of the finals series. The narrow 68-70 road victory meant Quimsa celebrated the championship with a 4-2 series win and lifted the Argentina LigaA for the first time in its history.
Like much of the series, Game 6 was a battle and Indalo actually had better stats, comfortably out rebounding the new champs in offense and defence, providing more assists, and turning over the ball more. However, Quimsa had the game statistic that mattered as they sent more points onto the scoreboard.
GECR Indalo started hot in a bid to remain in the title series, the home team looked good in the first quarter and took a solid 23-17 lead into the first split. In the second period Quimsa hit back, but after a 16-20 run still trailed through the halftime interval, the scoreboard reading 39-37 during the long break. Indalo stood firm in the third stanza and the teams traded buckets through the middle minutes of the quarter before the hosts edged the period 18-17 to lead 57-54 after thirty minutes. Quimsa tightened in defence in the closing act and managed to stop Indalo at 11 points, which set the guests up for a comeback that won them their first title.
Diego Garcia topped the scoring with 14 points in the win, while Gabriel Deck added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Robert Battle had a good all-round game with 12 points and 8 boards, followed by Sebastian Vega with 10 points.
Carlos Schattmann was hot through the buckets in the losing effort, he was the game high scorer with 20 points. Sam Clancy had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, but that was topped by Federico Aguerre, who drained 13 points and pulled 16 off the glass.
