Portland Blazers Win 2018 NBA Summer League
The Portland Trail Blazers are the 2018 NBA Summer League champions. They defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 91-73 in the finals.
Josh Hart, who had been on fire for most of the tournament, struggled with his shot in 22 minutes of action. He made just 3-of-12 shots from the field to finish with 12 points and two assists. He was so emotionally invested and was competing with so much intensity that he got ejected for arguing a call with the with the referees in the fourth quarter. Even Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, who had been cooking for the last few games, was limited to just 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field.
Portland was led by K.J. McDaniels who came up with a game-high 17 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
Despite falling short in this crucial game, his overall performance in the NBA Summer League did not go unnoticed. Hart was named the Summer League MVP.
Hart was joined in the NBA Summer League First Team by Wendell Carter Jr. (Chicago Bulls), Kevin Knox (New York Knicks), Mitchell Robinson (New York Knicks), and Collin Sexton (Cleveland Cavaliers)
2018 first-overall pick DeAndre Ayton (Phoenix Suns) was named All-NBA Summer League Second Team, along with Wade Baldwin IV, Jaren Jackson Jr., Trae Young, and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk.
