Philadelphia 76ers Win 2016 NBA Draft Lottery
NBA – With a 26.9 percent chance of getting it, the Philadelphia 76ers have won the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery. The Los Angeles Lakers will have the second pick in the draft. The Boston Celtics, via a pick from the Brooklyn Nets, round out the Top 3. After two consecutive years of getting the third overall pick, the Sixers are now finally in the driver’s seat in this year’s draft. Was it worth all those seasons of tanking to improve their odds? Well in this case, the proof will definitely be found in the proverbial pudding.
As of now, two names stand as far as being the favorites for the first overall pick. There’s the multi-talented Aussie freshman from LSU, Ben Simmons, who has drawn more than a few LeBron James comparisons and was at some point the consensus favorite. Then there’s also merit in considering Duke star forward Brandon Ingram.
The Sixers have a trio of young promising big men in Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel. The key now for them will be to find another core piece with which they can finally begin their rebuilding process.
