Brooklyn Nets veteran guard Patty Mills is sponsoring the annual North Shore Classic.
Brooklyn Nets’ veteran point guard Patty Mills is doing business on and off the court. Mills recently announced that he will be sponsoring the annual North Shore Classic, which is an NCAA Division I basketball tournament set in Laie, Hawaii. The upcoming tournament is now named the “Patty Mills North Shore Classic”, and will take place on November 25 and 26 at the Cannon Activities Center in Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
The Patty Mills North Shore Classic will feature four NCAA Division I men’s basketball teams, namely the University of Hawai’i, Texas State, Sacramento State, and Southern Utah. Tickets are also made cheaper — only $10 per general admission ticket per game day — with tons of free tickets to give away each day. The main purpose of the basketball event is to promote the importance of community and culture, and how these two social facets can be integrated through sports, or basketball to be specific.
Mills, who is the 55th overall pick during the 2009 NBA Draft, has established his name as one of the best guard shooters not just in the NBA but also in the international game as well. The 34-year-old sharpshooter won an NBA title with the San Antonio Spurs and has also suited up for the Nets and the Portland Trail Blazers. Along with his NBA resume, Mills is more known as the leader of the Australian national basketball team, having won four Gold medals in the FIBA Oceania Championship. He also steered Australia to a recent podium finish, winning the Bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Mills has put up career averages of 9.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He is currently in his second season with the Nets franchise.
