Pat Connaughton Suffers Calf Injury, To Miss Three Weeks
Milwaukee Bucks wing Pat Connaughton has sustained a calf injury that will keep him out for the next three weeks.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ redemption path is facing a tough hurdle, as they’ll be missing the services of veteran wing Pat Connaughton at the start of the 2022-23 NBA regular season. Per a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, Connaughton has sustained a right calf strain that will sideline him for at least three weeks. This unfortunate development will essentially sit him out when the Bucks open their new campaign against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 21.
This Connaughton injury will certainly put the Bucks in a tough spot, especially in terms of their rotation at the wing position. All-Star Khris Middleton is still recovering from wrist surgery, so he’s out for a significant period of time. Recently acquired forward Joe Ingles, who suffered a Torn ACL injury while still playing for the Utah Jazz last season, is not expected to suit up until December. With Connaughton also injured, the Bucks don’t have a lot of depth in the combo forward position. Young guns Jordan Nwora and MarJon Beauchamp could see major minutes until Middleton, Ingles, and Connaughton recover from their respective injuries.
Pat Connaughton, the 41st overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, started in 19 of the 65 games he played last season. He averaged 9.9 points on an excellent 39.5% clip from the three-point line, while also norming 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. Connaughton was one of the Bucks’ good role players when they won the 2021 NBA championship.
