Partizan wins 2019 ABA Supercup
BC Partizan MTS Beograd built up some fresh momentum on Sunday after defeating Cedevita Zagreb 77-99 to claim the 2019 ABA Supercup crown.
The 22-point blowout made a statement. Not only are they adding a new piece of hardware to their trophy case, but they’re also putting the ABA League on notice that they’re all geared up and amped for the 2019-20 season.
After a tight back-and-forth exchange in the first quarter, both teams were tied up 20-20. The second quarter told a different story and this one was all about Partizan. They turned up the heat and exploded for 35 points in this period alone. By halftime, they found themselves up 44-55.
From that point, there was no turning back. Partizan kept things going and their offense was just too much for Cedevita to overcome. They matched Cedevita’s 29 points in the third quarter but completely shut them down in fourth quarter 4-15, to completely overwhelm the green shirts.
Ognjen Jaramaz was the key player for Partizan as he put up 20 points and five assists.
If this game is any kind of preview to the game that Partizan is bringing to the 2019-20 season, then fans of the ABA League will be in for a treat.
