Oscar da Silva leaves ALBA Berlin for Barcelona
Barcelona has signed Oscar da Silva to a three-year deal. With da Silva (206 cm, 23 years old), Barcelona adds size and versatility to its frontcourt. At ALBA Berlin, da Silva averaged 8.8 points on 62.4% two-point shooting and 3.5 rebounds in 33 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, his first in the competition. He scored in double digits 13 times and posted a season-high 22 against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. Da Silva helped ALBA win this season’s German Cup and German League titles.
Da Silva started his professional basketball career with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, averaging 16.6 points in 17 games during the 2020-21 season. Before that, he played college basketball at Stanford University, where he was a two-time All-PAC-10 First team selection. Da Silva played youth basketball for MTSV Friendsfactory Schwabing, DJK Sportbind Munich and Basketball Akademie Munich of his native Germany.
