Orlando Johnson signs with Al Riyadi Beirut
Orlando Johnson (196 cm, UCSB ’12) inked a deal to head to Al Riyadi Beirut (Lebanon-Pepsi LBL). The 28-year-old guard moves to Lebanon after playing this season with the Austin Spurs (USA-D-League). The Austin Spurs signed Johnson in February and listed him on their roster for 13 games. He played well in his time in Austin with averages of 17.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg and finding 1.0 spg. This season marks the second time he’s joined and left the D-league team in his career. The guard played was a part the team in the 2015/2016 season.
Johnson’s resume includes experience in the NBA. The Indiana Pacers included Johnson during the 2012/2013 season for 60 games as well as the next year for 38 games. He also played with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans last season.
Now Johnson heads to the Pepsi LBL to join the defending champions. As of now, Al Riyadi Beirut holds a 17-6 record which leads their group in the standings.
