Oostende successfully defends Belgian League title
BC Oostende has done it again. The Belgian League (Euro Millions) powerhouse completed a successful defense of their crown after downing Antwerp 69-62 in Game 4 of the finals. This marks Filou Oostende’s eighth consecutive title and their 20th since 1981.
June 13th proved to be a special day for the players and fans of Filou Oostende as the powered through a Game 4 win against arguably their toughest competition in the Belgian League.
Jean-Marc Mwema heated up in this game and he delivered with 6-of-8 shooting from 3-point land en route to his game-high 18 points. His effort set the tone for this game as his team ended up making 11 3-pointers, almost double of Antwerp’s 6-for-16 effort.
As a team, Oostende also took better care of the ball, committing just nine turnovers compared to 14 by Antwerp.
Antwerp’s Paris Lee led his team with 15 points, while Ismael Bako added 11 points of his own.
Oostende now celebrates yet another title. Will another team in the Belgian League rise up and challenge their dominance in 2019-20?
