Olympiacos sweep EuroLeague season series vs CSKA Moscow
Olympiacos dominated CSKA Moscow at home (72-59) and swept the EuroLeague season series against the defending champions (2-0).
The “Reds” outscored the Muscovites 21-4 in the third quarter and never looked back (54-38).
The Russians never recovered after that and suffered their second straight loss.
Olympiacos was forced to play without its leader Vassilis Spanoulis, who will have a season-ending ankle surgery in the coming days.
Taylor Rochestie will also be sidelined for the next month, due to a foot injury.
Olympiacos improved to 10-14, whereas CSKA dropped to 16-8.
In an offensive showdown in Berlin, Real Madrid rallied past ALBA (97-103) and earned its third straight victory.
The “Whites” were unstoppable early in the game and led by as many as 23 points (16-39).
But, the Germans went on a 35-9 run in the second quarter and closed the first half in front by 10 (60-50).
Yet, the Spaniards took over in the second half, outscored their opponents 37-53 and sealed the deal.
Real is still second in the EuroLeague standings with an 18-6 record, whereas ALBA is at 8-16.
Anadolu Efes edged Zalgiris Kaunas in a late thriller at the Sinan Erdem Dome (96-91) and claimed its ninth straight win.
The Turks have lost only once in the last 18 EuroLeague games and can secure their qualification for the postseason on Friday.
Shane Larkin led the winners with 25 points, all in the second half. Efes improved to 21-3 and remains on top of the standings in the EuroLeague.
For their part, the Lithuanians fell to 9-15 and saw their three-game winning streak in the EuroLeague come to an end.
Baskonia outscored ASVEL Villeurbanne 40-26 in the last 20 minutes of the game and cruised to the 79-65 victory.
Both teams now have identical records (9-15) and are trying to maintain a EuroLeague playoff push.
