Nikola Mirotic traded to the Pelicans

 Nikola Mirotic (207 cm) has finally landed with a new team. The Chicago Bulls traded him and a second-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans for Jameer Nelson, Omer Asik, and Tony Allen. Mirotic is a Montenegrin-Spanish player who has been with the Bulls since 2014.

The player requested a trade from the team after an altercation with teammate Bobby Portis during a team practice. Mirotic was signed to a $27 million, 2-year deal by the Bulls over the summer and based on the rules mid-January was the earliest the team was allowed to trade him.

He played 25 games for the Bulls this 2017-18 season and averaged 16.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg.

The Pelicans need Mirotic to play at power forward, sharing the frontcourt with Anthony Davis. The Pelicans recently lost DeMarcus Cousins for the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Mirotic keeps the Pelicans armed with enough firepower to be a threat in the Western Conference playoffs.
